It goes without saying that you want your special day to be, well, special, and memorable. And while you’ve no doubt spent much time musing over the perfect dress and updo, you may not have given your body routine, or even your fragrance, much thought. This is where we come in, with our best bridal edit of everything you need for the big day.
BODY:
Pre-wedding prep: In the lead up to the wedding, you’ll want to get into a regular exfoliation routine — especially if you plan to fake tan for the day. It’s best to do this when skin is damp, so while in the shower step out of the stream, and rub your exfoliant on in a circular, “buffing” motion, concentrating on rough areas like the knees and elbows. To level up the skin softness, follow this with some body moisturiser immediately post-shower when the skin is still damp and will absorb the moisture best.
Try: The Cottage Greenhouse Fig & Black Currant Salt Scrub, $39 ; Archive Journey Within Body Lotion, $59
On the day:
Don’t ignore the fragrance in your body products! These can be used to amplify the intensity of your fragrance and give even more longevity to your scent. If you can, match your body products to each other, or at the very least ensure they are complementary and within the same family as your fragrance so it doesn’t compete for scent on the day.
Try: Lollia In Love Whipped Body Butter, $75, combines apple blossom, Jasmine and rose, for a delicate and dreamy floral, and Lollia In Love Mini Hand Cream, $15.95 has the same scent with a gorgeous mix of nut butters and oils to nourish the hands, plus it’s small enough to fit in your clutch.
FRAGRANCE:
Knowing that smell is the sense which has the greatest recall, you definitely want to be putting some thought into what you spray on your day, because it will be carried with you forever. Many choose a unique scent — one different to their signature — for that reason: they want it to always feel special and memorable when they wear it.
It’s helpful to stay within your fragrance family, and smells which you are naturally drawn to so there’s no big surprises on the day. If you can, get a few different testers of fragrances you like and see how they wear over many hours as you want to be as enamoured with the base notes as you are with the top notes.
From a practical standpoint, choose either a perfume oil or an EDP over an EDT as the higher concentration of fragrance oil will mean it will last the distance.
Try: Lollia Elegance EDP, $120 with white amber and mirabelle; Tokyo Milk Dark First Base EDP, $89 with pear, apple blossom, musk and cedarwood; Lollia This Moment EDP, $115 with water lily and sun blossoms ; Archive Yet To Be Written EDP, $99 with grapefruit and neroli; Library of Flowers Forget Me Not EDP, $89 with Osmanthus, Rice Powder and White Orchid or the classic, Lollia In Love EDP, $115 with apple blossom, jasmine and rose
