We all know the beauty world is becoming more genderless, but we also know that 90% of time, men have beauty products because the women in their lives have bought it for them. And we also know that they secretly steal our face creams too. So here’s what to stock their cupboard with so a) he’ll start using some good products and b) he’ll stop using yours.
Demeter Fragrance Library Dirt Cologne Spray, $34.95: An iconic Demeter scent that’s earthy, grounded and fresh like a day spent in a garden (or the fields around the perfumer’s family farm in Pennsylvania as the story goes). Even if you’re not the outdoorsy type, how could you not love that — it’s sexy and rugged and completely unexpected.
Solid State Absolute, $69.95: You will, without a doubt, want to steal this one immediately. A mix of fruits and woods, juicy pineapples pairs with lime and apple and is grounded by oakmoss, vanilla and jasmine. Yum.
Noosa Basics Charcoal + Eucalyptus Natural Deodorant stick, $18.50: A black deodorant: that’s enough to get him over the line — yes? But there’s so much more going for it too. It’s 100% organic and aluminum free, is antibacterial and just has a not-overpowering eucalyptus smell that won’t mess with any fragrance.
Badger Balm Beard Oil, $34.95: Sure it’s marketed as a beard oil to keep wayward whiskers smooth and nourished, but with jojoba, sunflower and babassu oil, it would also make a great hair oil to tame the frizz and calm split ends too. Just saying.
Noosa Basics Foaming Face Wash, $26: An essential in every routine, the foam gives it a tactile “does something” feel, but the ingredients, including rosewater and sea buckthorn make it gentle enough for everyday use. Pop it in the shower, it’s a no brainer.
Standard Procedure Lip Balm SPF 50+, $12: A double-duty balm that protects the lips from the sun? Perfect. The hydrating ingredients are great for dry lips, the coconut flavour makes it fun to use and the packaging? Wel, that’s just cool.
Toyo Milk Dark Excess EDP, $89: Seduction in a bottle: resins and woods make it luxe and heady but the blood orange give a hint of freshness in this unisex fragrance that draws you into its world immediately.
Standard Procedure The Wash Hand Body and Hair, $20 No one loves a multi-use product more than the dudes, but this one you’ll actually love too. Coconut scented (a crowd favourite) and super hydrating thanks to calendula and aloe vera, it’s pH balanced, and just an incredible one-and-done product to have in the shower for mops to toes.
Noosa Basics Cocoa Butter Cream Ultra Rich, $31: Speaking of multi-tasking products, this pot is gold. Super rich and hydrating, a little goes a long way, but it will leave skin/ elbows/calloused hands feeling like they haven’t met a day of work in their lives.
Badger Balm Shampoo Bar, $21.95: No one loves a soap more than a dude, so this shampoo bar indulges the soap obsession while also being eco-friendly. Oh - and it works too (and yes it can be used on the body too)
The Perfume Oil Company Spritz Perfume Oil, $34.95: Fun fact: Acqua Di Gio (which this smells remarkably like) is the number one selling men's fragrance in the world. And since it’s mostly women buying the fragrances for men, it’s safe to say we are the ones with the good taste and you’ll probably love this one too.
